Beckhams Named Best Dressed

April 8, 2009 by Erin Balser

UK’s Glamour magazine has named David Beckham the world’s best dressed man.

David beat out other stylish stars like Mark Ronson (#2), Ed Westwick (#3), Brad Pitt (#4) and Johnny Depp (#5) to take home the honor.

On the women’s side, Victoria Beckham made the list as well, coming in at #3. She was beat put by Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole (#1) and Kate Moss (#2). How Cheryl beat Victoria and Kate, I’ll never know.

Naturally, David and Victoria took home best dressed couple honors, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (#2) and Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens (#3) rounding out the couples list.

I’m not surprised by the accolades David and Victoria receive for their style. The twosome always looks smashing, whether they’re going to dinner together or walking the red carpet alone!

Victoria Beckham in London, Dines with Siblings

February 8, 2009 by Erin Balser

Victoria Beckham has been very busy in London.

On February 7, she was spotted leaving Claridges hotel in London, where she is staying, in a chic all black ensemble spiced up by a jaguar print clutch. I think she looks great, but isn’t she cold in that shrunken blazer?

Later that night, Victoria mixed it up and went for an all-white ensemble, paired with tan heels and her vintage Chanel bag, as she went for dinner with her brother and sister at Locanda Locatelli.

I love how Victoria always looks perfeclty polished, but I wish she would take a few risks and not be so matchy-matchy. She often does it regardless of whatever color she’s wearing.

Which London look do you like better? All black or all white?

Victoria Beckham is an Icon

December 21, 2008 by Erin Balser

The Guardian has put together a retrospective of Victoria Beckham and her fashion evolution, from her time with the Spice Girls, to becoming a renowned designer with the Victoria Beckham Collection.

Victoria Beckham Presents Jeans Collection In Madrid

“Her style has changed enormously in the past three years,” says Alexandra Shulman, editor of Vogue, to the Guardian. “She’s become much more fashion-savvy which I think she wasn’t before and she’s realised that the obvious isn’t always fashionable.”

Her dress collection is a smashing success with critics, editors and fans alike. With this praise in tow, Victoria will be able to further legitimize herself as a fashion designer to reckon with, and as an icon that will shape fashion trends for years to come.

You can read the whole article here. They’ve also put together a slideshow looking back, including hits and misses over the past ten years.

Oh Victoria. You’ve come so far.

Helen Mirren Thinks the Beckhams are Beautiful

December 14, 2008 by Erin Balser

Helen Mirren, the wonderful and immensely talented actress, sat down with the UK’s Glamour to talk about her successful career (she’s hotter now at 63 than ever before), keeping young and staying beautiful. Mirren, ever the demure dame, deflected the questions about her beauty and instead turned the conversation to a couple she does think is beautiful, David and Victoria Beckham.

“I am just not beautiful,” she says and goes on to list women she does think are beautiful, including Keira Knightley and Kate Moss. It’s all about having a certain aesthetic, she thinks, and it’s not just limited to women!

“Men can be beautiful,” Helen says. “The most beautiful of all, the Adonis of our time, is David Beckham. Everything about his face is just…”

Helen didn’t leave her praise for the Beckhams for David. She had wonderful things to say about Victoria as well.

“Victoria is stylish to the max. And she’s gorgeous, though I wish she’d smile a little more,” she says.

I love Helen Mirren. Despite her modesty, she’s a gorgeous, classy lady and I love that she can talk about popular culture with the best of them!

Behind Victoria Beckham’s New ‘Do

September 11, 2008 by Erin Balser

Victoria Beckham decided to chop all her hair off because she was bored. At least that’s what she tells the Daily Mirror.

“I felt it was time for a real change. I wanted to pull my hair back from my face and have always loved the idea of having a gamime crop,” she said. “I spent a long time looking at the great fashion haircuts of the 90s and went to Garren, the master of those cuts, to create our modern interpretation of this look. I love it!”

New York Celebrity stylist Garren is responsible for the pixie cut. “It was clear that we had to go short and create a new look that embraced her beauty, great personality and body,” he said.

Victoria’s hair has caused quite a stir. It made the front pages of most of Britain’s weeklies! I personally love the cut. I think it really shows off her one structure and makes her look much younger. However, not everyone has responded positively to the chop. What do you think? Is Posh’s coif a winner?

Victoria Beckham’s Dress Line Impresses

September 9, 2008 by Erin Balser

According to the Guardian, Victoria Beckham’s debut dress line impressed both buyers and magazine editors when Victoria show it via private appointment all throughout New York Fashion week. “Beautiful” and “classy” were the kinds of words coming out of buyers mouths as they left the showroom.

2008 ESPY Awards - Arrivals

Here’s to hoping that this critical success will transfer to commercial success when the 15-piece dress collection hit stores in February. Only 400 dresses are being made, so buyers are currently lobbying for ensuring certain looks are in their stores. The low production number should mean that these dresses become a coveted fashion item and will be snatched up immediately!

The line will retail for $1400-$3600 in high end department stores.

Victoria Beckham: Fashion is Like My Child

September 3, 2008 by Erin Balser

Victoria Beckhamshe’s openly admitted she has no time for another child. She tells OK Magazine that a big reason for this is that her new dress line (premiering at NY Fashion Week this month) is like another kid.

Victoria Beckham Launches New Fragrance At Harvey Nichols

That, and she’s convinced that it makes her look crazy. She openly gets excited about stuff that David and her boys do not understand.

“I think sometimes David thinks I’m a bit nuts,” she told the magazine. “I get very excited about rivets and buttons and fabric that he doesn’t really understand.”

However, despite his lack of understanding, Victoria says that David’s been nothing but supportive throughout the entire process.

I think the Beckhams have a really solid, understanding relationship. They need to, considering how jam-packed and crazy their schedules are!

Victoria Beckham is really moving up in the fashion world! The latest rumor is that Victoria will be unveiling her new line of dresses at the next New York Fashion Week.

“I’m working on a collection of dresses at the moment, which I plan to show in September,” she told WWD.

She’s not actually on the schedule yet, but with WWD and Pop Sugar both speculating, it seems like it’s a safe bet.

Victoria is really excited about this new dress collection and has worked really hard on it.

“It will be something completely different from what I’ve ever done,” she said. “I’m just putting it together at the moment, but they will be very upscale dresses and likely will start at around $1,200 retail. I’m going to be using very expensive fabrics and finishes, lots of embroideries.”

I’m really excited to see what Vic has in store! What do you think about these fashion week rumors, though? Should she get a chance to show at Fashion week? Or does she need to prove herself as a designer first?

Victoria Beckham Names Jeans After Naomi Campbell

June 14, 2008 by Erin Balser

Victoria Beckham is expanding her dvb style jeans line and first up on the list is her brand new Naomi jean names after supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Naomi is really proud to have the jeans named after her and thinks the jeans are fantastic.

“I love the fit, model and cut of the Naomi jeans Victoria Beckham has designed. I have already worn them many times and people always stop me and ask the make of my jeans. Victoria did a great job capturing a stylish Seventies rock jean look,” Naomi told Vogue.

The jean is named after Naomi because of how they make your legs look incredibly long.

“High fashion plays a huge part in the creation of the dVb ranges and right now I love the influences of the Seventies and Eighties on the runway,” Victoria says. “The “Naomi by dVb” takes these elements into a denim cut which makes the leg look incredibly long. Who better to name this style after than Naomi Campbell?”

The jeans are going to retail for prices waaaaaaay out of my price range. Currently, they’re only available in the UK, but expect them to make the jump across the pond soon.

Victoria Beckham in Lawsuit with Rock & Republic

May 5, 2008 by Erin Balser

Victoria Beckham is suing the label that produces Rock & Republic Jeans. She’s claiming a loss of earnings nearing the figure of $100 million!

Victoria has been with R&R since 2004 and they split in 2006. The split supposedly occurred because Victoria butted heads with lead R&R designer Michael Ball.

Nothing is public yet, so it’s likely all a rumor, but Daily Mail revealed that a High Court listing reveals a claim filed by Beckham Brand Ltd., the company that oversees everything David and Victoria do in terms of merchandising.

While it’s disappointing that Victoria believes her jeans’ potential wasn’t maximized, until I see the actual details of the suit, it seems a bit frivolous. I mean, it’s jeans. And how will she prove the loss of earnings? Reports are circulating that her latest line isn’t doing well either.
