Now that the AC Milan deal is official, David Beckham is free to blog about it! David writes about how excited he is to be playing in game and how it’s better for him–he finds there’s a big difference between being fit for a game and just plain being fit.

David Beckham’s Milan Deal Official

October 31, 2008 by Erin Balser

After weeks of talks, David Beckham is officially headed to AC Milan in the MLS off-season. According to his official website, David will start playing for the club in January 2009 and will return to the Galaxy once the MLS 2009 season begins.

I think this is an exciting and positive move for all involved. It will keep David focused and in shape and will give AC Milan a boost in media attention and let them have a chance to play with one of the world’s greatest players. The Galaxy were concerned about fatigue for David, and while that’s valid, I feel David has been playing long enough to know what his body can handle.

LA Galaxy Draw With Dallas

October 28, 2008 by Erin Balser

David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy played their final game of the season yesterday, playing Dallas to a 2-2 draw. Eddie Buddle and Landon Donovan picked up the two Galaxy goals, and David helped out with an assist. It was a disappointing end to a lackluster season for the Galaxy. Let’s hope they work hard during the off-season and come back next year better than ever.

Soccer isn’t over for for David though. He’s soon going to be headed to AC Milan to play during the off-season. How do you feel about David headed to Milan? ill it make him a better player for the Galaxy? Or is it unfair, and opens up questions about his loyalty to MLS and the Galaxy?

David Beckham Blogs About England, Galaxy

October 16, 2008 by Erin Balser

David Beckham is currently on the road, playing for the English national team, but he still had time to update his blog. Over the weekend, he only saw a few minutes of play, but was pleased that England defeated Kazakhstan. Despite his lack of playing time, David says he was pleased to participate and “come on the field to create chances.”

While David was away, the Los Angeles Galaxy defeated the Colorado Rapids 3-2. David was disappointed to not be there, but was glad to see the team win. The Galaxy needs to win all three of their final games if they hope to make the play-offs. One down, two to go!

David Beckham Suspended from Galaxy

October 7, 2008 by Erin Balser

David Beckham received a yellow card during the Los Angeles Galaxy’s match against the Columbus Crew on Saturday. Because of this violation, David will miss the October 1 match against the Houston Dynamo.

The match is a pivotal one for the Galaxy. They are currently in the bottom of the standings with only three games left. If they hope to score a play-off berth, they need to win all of these games.

David is also missing this week’s match against the Colorado Rapids because he was called up to play for the English squad.

Hopefully the team will be able to perform without David on the field.

LA Galaxy Defeat DC United 5-2

September 21, 2008 by Erin Balser

The Los Angeles Galaxy snapped their 12-game winless streak with an exciting 5-2 victory over the DC United last night. Landon Donovan lead the Galaxy with a hat trick and Peter Vagenas and Alan Gordon chipped in with a goal each.

David Beckham contributed to the win too, assisting on one of Landon’s goals.

After the game, David praised Landon for his strong performance in a win that the Galaxy badly needed.

“I thought Landon was exceptional. But I’ve seen that a few times from Landon,” David told reporters after the game. “When he plays like that, no one can stop him. He’s a goal scorer. He’s a great finisher of the ball and we needed that.”

Congratulations to the Galaxy. This was exactly what they needed to lift their spirits as they prep for a fight to make the play-offs!

After last week’s firing of Alexi Lalas and resignation of Ruud Gullit, the Los Angeles Galaxy announced they have filled both of these positions.

Bruce Arena, one of the winningest coaches in US soccer history, will take on the dual role of head coach and GM of the fledging Galaxy team. David Beckham and his teammates started the year off strong, but have struggled recently. Arena has won 2 MLS titles with DC United and is expected to turn the Galaxy into one of MLS’s premiere teams.

Video: LA Galaxy Take SuperClasico

August 17, 2008 by Erin Balser

Playing for the first time under the direction of Cobi Jones, David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy played Chivas to a 2-2 draw, securing the return of the SuperClasico trophy. Chris Klein scored, off an assist from David, and Landon Donovon supplied the second goal.

David received a caution for a reckless foul during the game. The Galaxy and Chivas have a history of playing rough against each other–I wonder where this rivalry spawned from.

Despite securing the trophy for the second year in a row, the team wasn’t happy with their performance.

“We went out in the first half pumped up because we were ready for this game. We led at halftime 1-0,” David told the reporters after the game. “It should have been 2- or 3-0, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

Highlights from the game are in the video below:
