AC Milan is still in the race for the Serie A championship. They’re still quite a ways out of first place, but if they keep up this pace, it’s certainly a possibility.

David was most likely benched because of his time away from the team to play for England. Andriy Shevchenko, who had played for Ukraine on the weekend was taken out of the starting line-up, but eventually made it on the field as a sub.

Here’s a video with some highlights from the game:

Despite being on the bench, David was in good spirits, getting into the game and cheering on his team. David has always been one to put his team and the team’s needs ahead of his own, so I’m sure he understands the decision.

David now sits alone in second on the all-time cap list. The only person who surpasses David is goalkeeper Peter Shilton, who played for England an amazing 125 times. If David keeps up this level of play and his fitness, it’s possible he will surpass Shilton with time.
