England and David Beckham took one step closer to this year’s World Cup by defeating Andorra by a score of 2-0 last night in Spain. David didn’t start, but came into the game in the second half. This gave David his 104th cap!
Both of England’s goals were scored by Joe Cole in the second half, who had a fantastic game! The first half looked a bit rough, but England came out fighting after the break, and pulled out a fantastic win! Congrats to the team!
Next up, England will play Croatia on Wednesday in their second World Cup qualifier match.
David Beckham Blogs About England Training, Galaxy

David Beckham updated his blog today. He wrote about the draw the Galaxy had against the New England Revolution–what a well-fought game that was!–, training with the England squad for the World Cup, and more.
David also congratulats John Terry for being awarded the English captainship. As always, David is appreciative of the contributions others bring to his sport, and humbled by their excellence as he works beside them. David always impresses me with his class and grace when talking about teammates and competitors. You can tell he really loves soccer and everything about it.
David Beckham Isn’t Worried About Game

There is concern in the football community that David Beckham might be over-exerting himself by playing for both England and the Los Angeles Galaxy. It’s a lot of traveling and this might prevent him from staying alert and in the best of shape.
However, David told Sports Illustrated that these nay-sayers have nothing to be worried about.
“I can switch from playing in the USA at the weekend to then playing on a Wednesday against one of the best teams in the world and the best players in the world,” he told the magazine. “I’ll always be the same player that, if given two or three yards, I can cross a ball into the danger area. People have said I’ve lost my pace but I’ve never had a major amount of pace anyway. I have never really been someone who has gone past players.”
Confidence in his game is key to staying on top and it appears as though David has loads of it. So much so that he told SI that he hopes to be a part of England’s 2010 World Cup bid.
I’d love to see David play world-class soccer for a long time and it looks like he’s planning to!

David Beckham was named the captain on Sunday night as the English team defeated Trinidad & Tobago in a friendly by a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by Gareth Barry and Jermain Defoe.
“I was surprised and didn’t expect it,” Beckham said of being named captain. “But I’ll always answer the call and be available for my country and captain them as well - it was a surprise but I am honoured to do so.”
David had tons of praise for the yung players who carried the team, and the managers and coaching staff who inspired them to play well.
“It was a tough performance and the manager was telling us before the game that even though it was a friendly we had to take it seriously,” he said. “It was the centenary game for them but they wanted to beat England and we had to put in a good performance and I think we did that. The players in the camp are motivated and whether we have got experienced players or young players we have to play as one.”
Congrats to the team!

David Beckham Back in LA
March 29, 2008 by Erin Balser
After a whirlwind and historic trip to England, David Beckham is back in Los Angeles and is gearing up for the upcoming MLS season.
David updated his blog after coming home, calling receiving his 100th cap “a dream moment” as he was “proud and honored” to play for England for the 100th time.
He’s already getting ready for the first MLS game of the season. The Los Angeles Galaxy play this Saturday against the Colorado Rapids.
The Galaxy face a tough season ahead, seeing as last year they didn’t make the play-offs. They have something to prove, especially David, who spent much of last year plagued by injury.
