David Beckham’s Return to AC Milan Not Final
June 14, 2009 by Erin Balser
It was nearly a given that David Beckham would be returning to AC Milan once the get-out clause in his Los Angeles Galaxy contract came up in November. However, that’s looking less likely to be the case. While David is committed to playing the highest caliber soccer he can in order to prepare for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, it may not be with the Italian club where David has most of the past year.
“It has not been finalised although Milan is one of the clubs that have shown an interest. I will definitely be coming back to Europe though because of the World Cup,” David told the UK’s Telegraph.
David assured the reporter that the upheaval isn’t anything to worry about. Regardless of where he ends up in November, David will be committed to the team he is on and to performing to the best of his ability.
While I don’t doubt this, it would be nice to see David have some consistency in his career. Stability betters team relationships which results in better soccer from everyone.
If he doesn’t return to Milan, I wonder where he will go. Rumors have sparked up about nearly every top tier club in Europe in the past few months.

MLS Interviews David Beckham
June 3, 2009 by Erin Balser
Everyone in the MLS is highly anticipating David Beckham’s return to the Galaxy. After extending his loan with AC Milan until the end of May, David will be back on the Los Angeles Galaxy pitch on July 16th, when the team takes on the New York Red Bulls. In the meantime, he’s plaing for his national team in two World Cup qualifying matches.
David chatted with MLS about his return. He’s been following the Galaxy’s progress closely throughout the season and is excited to return and make a contribution.
“We’ve been on a run of draws, but last year maybe those would have been losses,” he said. “There’s been times we’ve played some good football, and the guys have worked for each other. It’s not as if players are in there going through the motions … you can see the improvements.”
David thinks the biggest issue is simply a matter of confidence.
“It’s about that confidence. Once you get that win, then going on to get another win, that’s the biggest thing. I think when you go on a roll of losing games or even drawing it becomes sort of a psychological thing. You get it into your head that you’re going to draw the next game, then the next game until you get that win.”
David doesn’t think joining the team so late in the season will be an issue because of his work ethic and determination. He wants to show the players he is dedicated to the Galaxy, MLS and to playing the best football possible.

David Beckham & AC Milan Defeat Fiorentina
May 31, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham and AC Milan clinched their spot in the Champions League tournament with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina earlier today. The win secured their 3rd place standing in Serie A.
There were reports that David was uncertain for the game, as he rolled his ankle in practice earlier this week. However, it looks as though those reports were exaggerated. David started and played for most of the game. It was David’s final match with the club, as he will noe return to the Los Angeles Galaxy to finish out the MLS season.
Here’s a video with some highlights from the game:
“With regards to my future I cannot say anything more than what I said two weeks or two months ago: now I return to Los Angeles for the final part of the season, then we’ll see what happens, but I hope to return soon,” David said in a press conference after the game. “My thanks goes to everyone, they have all been fantastic with me in making me feel like a part of the team from the first minute and I wish them all the best.”
There is the possibility that David will return to Milan next season. However, no contracts have been signed yet. Until we hear otherwise, David returning to Milan, leaving the Galaxy or even heading back to Real Madrid is all speculation.
Los Angeles Times Interviews David Beckham
May 30, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham is set to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 11, in time to suit up for their July 18 match against the New York Red Bull. In an effort to ease the blow of his return - he did, after all, request to stay with AC Milan - David chatted with the Los Angeles Times via phone the other day. They chatted about playing for AC Milan, the rumors that David will return to Real Madrid and what he’s looking forward to when he returns to the Galaxy.
David assures us there is no truth to the Real Madrid rumors. However, nothing has been signed for next season so David’s future remains a bit uncertain.
With his successful stint with AC Milan behind him, David is looking forward to finishing up the MLS season with the Galaxy.
“I’m excited about it,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been in Milan for six months, and I’ve enjoyed my time immensely. But I’ve always said, and I will always say, that I am still committed to MLS and to the Galaxy, no matter what anyone says.”
The interview is timely and interesting, but David does play it safe with his answers! You can read the complete interview here.

David Beckham & AC Milan Lose to Roma
May 25, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham and AC Milan lost a tough game 3-2 to Roma yesterday afternoon. Massimo Ambrosini scored both of Milan’s goals, but they failed to convert any more shots on goal. David played the first half of the game and was replaced by Clarence Seedorf.
Here is a video with some highlights of the game.
The loss doesn’t affect Milan’s chances of playing in the Champions League as they have many points over Fiorentina. However, it’s still frustrating to lose such a thrilling match this late in the season on home soil.
David Beckham Blogs about AC Milan, Serie A
May 21, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham updated his blog yesterday, writing about the outcome of the Serie A standings. AC Milan couldn’t catch Inter, but put up a great run at the end of their season to try. David is really proud of his team and their efforts and congratulated Inter on a job well done.

AC Milan did qualify for the Champions League, though, and now David is turning his focus to that.
David also talked about England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup. Winning the bid would mean a lot to him and he’s putting a lot of effort into the bid to make sure that England had the best possible chance.

David Beckham, AC Milan Draw Against Juventus
May 11, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham and AC Milan could only manage to draw against Juventus yesterday afternoon. Clarence Seedorf scored the first goal for Milan, but Juve quickly responded. The 1-1 score means that Milan stays in second place, seven points behind Inter.

Here’s a video of highlights of the game:
Victoria was on hand to see David play. She looked great in an all-black outfit, sunglasses and a cute sequined headband. Victoria sat with Stefano Gabbana and Vogue’s Anna dello Russo. I wonder if sitting together was partly business and perhaps Victoria has another Vogue cover in the works!

AC Milan only has three matches left. They’ve got a lot of work ahead of them if they want to catch Inter.

David Beckham, AC Milan Defeat Catania
May 5, 2009 by Erin Balser
The rain and the wet and messy field couldn’t stop David Beckham and AC Milan as they picked up their third win in a row when they defeated Catania 2-0 yesterday afternoon. David started the match and the Milan goals were scored by Filipo Inzaghi and Kaka.
AC Milan is still in the race for the Serie A championship. They’re still quite a ways out of first place, but if they keep up this pace, it’s certainly a possibility.

Here is a video with highlights from the game:
It’s great David has gotten back in the starting line-up and has been shining ever since. He has little less than a month with Milan, as his contract only lets him stay and play until May 31st.
