David Beckham Interviewed in Kasakhstan
June 8, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham is currently in Kasakhstan with the England football squad. England took on Kasakhstan yesterday in a World Cup qualifying match. David managed to squeeze in a few interviews between training and travel. I’m not entirely sure the source of this interview, but in it David talks about the fans in Kasakhstan, the hard game England played (they won 4-0), and more. Already, David is focusing on the next match - England plays Andorra in another World Cup qualifier on June 10th.
David only played the last fifteen minutes, but recieved a huge cheer from the crowd when he took the field. He instantly made a contribution when he stepped on the turf, so things are looking up for David to play a larger role for England in future games. He hopes to play until he’s at least 40, so it would be nice if he was still a key player for his country until then.
Sky Sports Interviews David Beckham
June 7, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham has been making the media rounds lately, doing to best to assure football fans he is excited to be returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy and dedicated to the team and to the MLS. On Friday, he sat down with Sky Sports in the UK to talk about his decision to stay with AC Milan and what he hopes to accomplish in the second half of the Galaxy season.
“When I had it in my mind to try and go on loan and to try to stay in the England team, I knew I had to stay at this level,” David said. “The only way to do that was to try and go to a big club. They don’t get much bigger than AC Milan.”
I understand why David made the decision he made, but he better make a significant contribution to MLS soccer immediately if he wants to be completely forgiven by North American fans. I’m sure that’s his goal. I’m excited to see Becks back on North American soil, that’s for sure!
MLS Interviews David Beckham
June 3, 2009 by Erin Balser
Everyone in the MLS is highly anticipating David Beckham’s return to the Galaxy. After extending his loan with AC Milan until the end of May, David will be back on the Los Angeles Galaxy pitch on July 16th, when the team takes on the New York Red Bulls. In the meantime, he’s plaing for his national team in two World Cup qualifying matches.
David chatted with MLS about his return. He’s been following the Galaxy’s progress closely throughout the season and is excited to return and make a contribution.
“We’ve been on a run of draws, but last year maybe those would have been losses,” he said. “There’s been times we’ve played some good football, and the guys have worked for each other. It’s not as if players are in there going through the motions … you can see the improvements.”
David thinks the biggest issue is simply a matter of confidence.
“It’s about that confidence. Once you get that win, then going on to get another win, that’s the biggest thing. I think when you go on a roll of losing games or even drawing it becomes sort of a psychological thing. You get it into your head that you’re going to draw the next game, then the next game until you get that win.”
David doesn’t think joining the team so late in the season will be an issue because of his work ethic and determination. He wants to show the players he is dedicated to the Galaxy, MLS and to playing the best football possible.
You can read the entire interview here. There’s also a video interview, which you can watch here.
Are you excited for David’s return? Worried? Still upset over his request to leave?

David Beckham Supports 2018 World Cup Bid
May 18, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham was on hand at the Wembley Stadium in London earlier today to officially announce England’s bid for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups along with fellow football star Wayne Rooney. England is campaigning strongly for the 2018 bid, but if that is unsuccessful, are hopeful for the Cup in 2022. To show how serious England is about this, both Prince William and prime minister Gordon Brown attended the press conference.
David was adamant that England’s fans and atmosphere makes it the perfect stage for the World Cup.
“There is no bigger support than our fans,” he said at the press conference. “The passion that’s shown in our country every time someone either puts an England shirt on or any time they play for their club, there are full stadiums everywhere.”

“We in England would be truly honoured to host the World Cup and welcome the world,” Football Association Lord Triesman said. “We have first-class grounds. We’ve got good transport links, domestically and internationally. We’ve got excellent accommodation. A World Cup in England would be a truly memorable event – not only for our nation but for every nation. We’d extend a wonderful welcome to players and fans from across the world. Inside and outside our grounds, we’d share with them our love of the game and our sense of fair play. And they would enjoy our diverse culture – one that means England would provide a home-from-home welcome for every fan and player.”

A key argument made by everyone was how great hosting the World Cup would be for the economy. I hope England’s bid is successful, it would mean a lot to David and to the country as a whole.

David Beckham Loves Only Victoria
May 8, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham sat down with Italian newspaper La Stampa the other day to address several rumors flying around him, why he loves Milan so much and why he’s returning to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
“‘I do not flirt with other women - I exist only for Victoria,” he said. “And just for the record Victoria will be in the stand on Sunday to watch me play against Juventus.”
David also admitted he simply doesn’t have the time to address every rumor about him and his family.
“If I took the time to deny every story, I wouldn’t have time to be a footballer,” he said. I think the Beckhams have a refreshing and understanding perspective of the press and it’s frustrating that they are constantly dragged through the mud like this.
I’m really excited Victoria will be going to see David play Juventus. Not only is it a very important game for AC Milan, David spent his 34th birthday alone. It will be nice for the two of them to have a belated celebration together.

David Beckham Talks to ESPN
March 13, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham gave a lot of interviews this week about the new time-share agreement AC Milan and the Los Angeles Galaxy have reached about his playing time. In the video below, David talks to ESPN about his soccer future, his injury, why he’s pleased with the arrangement the two clubs worked out, how he really wants to play for England in 2010 and what all this means for his family.
The answers are very much the same as David has given in the other interviews this week. It gets repetitive, but it’s nice to see David taking the time to explain his decisions to the press. He has a lot of fans and people invested in his decisions and they deserve to know the rationale behind it.
I’m hoping David will be up for the Serie A match Milan has against Siena this Sunday. He seems pretty optimistic, but he has so much soccer coming up this year that I hope he doesn’t push himself.
David Beckham Talks About AC Milan/Galaxy Agreement
March 12, 2009 by Erin Balser
I’m not 100% sure what media outlet David Beckham did this interview with. They chat about his recent ankle injury; David says it’s a mild injury and he should be okay by the weekend.
They also talk about the time share agreement between Milan and the Los Angeles Galaxy. David is relieved that he can truly focus on soccer now and not worry about the negotiations happening. David is surprised by how well he;s been playing in Milan, but thinks that playing at the highest level with this great team really inspired him to play his hardest.
David admits he made a few financial agreements himself to make himself available to be in Milan, but he admits he was willing to do whatever he could to do what he could to stay in Milan.
The interview is about 8 minutes long and they cover quite a few topics!
Hopefully David will be back on his feet by the weekend. AC Milan is taking on Siena on Sunday and I’m sure David will want to be on the field!
David Beckham Chats with Manchester United
February 25, 2009 by Erin Balser
David Beckham’s former team, Manchester United, is in Milan taking on AC Milan’s city rivals, Inter Milan. The match is part of the first round of the UEFA championships.
David stopped by a practice and took some time out to talk to their website and to their TV station.
In the video interview, David talks about what fun he had watching the current Manchester United team train and meeting all the current players at the hotel they were staying at. I’m glad David still pays attention to and cares about his former team. David had a lot of momumental moments during his time at Man U and they all helped make him the soccer player he is today.
In the print interview, David said he was looking forward to watching his old team take on his current rivals. He thought it was going to be an exciting game. He felt the key to success for Man U would be stopping Milan forwards Ibrahimovic and Adriano. The print interview is pretty short, and only talks about Manchester United. They stayed away from David and his current controversial state in soccer. You can read the interview here.
David Beckham Chats About AC Milan
January 7, 2009 by Erin Balser
In the video below, David Beckham chats with an unknown reporter about why he decided to play for Milan for the next three months and what he hopes to accomplish by doing so. He seems genuinely excited and humbled to be in the company of such elite players. He talks about how much he loves experiencing new cultures, and getting the opportunity to live in Italy is the chance of a lifetime!
The video is really brief, but David says a few things about the move to Italy that are new.
David made his AC Milan debut yesterday, playing the first half of a 4-3 win over Hamburg. David is expected to suit up this weekend, when Milan takes on AS Roma on January 11.
