Happy Anniversary David and Victoria!

July 4, 2009 by Erin Balser

Today is David and Victoria Beckham’s 10th wedding anniversary. The couple is supposedly enjoying a super secluded vacation on Neckers Island, which probably explains the lack of sightings in the past few days.

David Victoria Wedding Anniversary

The twosome were married in a lavish fairy tale wedding at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland. The media frenzy surrounding the wedding was insane and it’s been argued that David and Victoria jumpstarted the entire celebrity-wedding fascination trend. Here’s a wonderful video of some of the photographs of the wedding.

They’ve had a fascinating 10 years together as a couple, seeing David go from Manchester United to Real Madrid to Los Angeles Galaxy and to AC Milan and back again, seeing Victoria go from pop princess to fashion icon and a designer herself, raising a family of three young, active boys and still staying one of the most famous couples in the world.

I hope David and Victoria celebrate their day right and enjoy the next ten years together just as much!

David & Victoria Beckham’s Rumored Romantic Getaway

July 3, 2009 by Erin Balser

david-victoria-beckham-spl78638_008David and Victoria Beckham will be celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary this weekend, on July 4th. There’s been lots of rumors about what the couple is going to do to commemorate this special occasion, but the most pervasive rumor is that the twosome will be spending a romantic weekend on the ultra-exclusive Necker Island.

Necker Island is owned by media magnate Richard Branson. There is only one building on the entire island, a 14-bedroom mansion that can be rented for $51,000 per night!

It’s so exclusive that David apparently had to even call in a few favors to make sure he got his reservation, The Sun claims. Their source reported that:

Becks has pulled in a few favours. He has bought Victoria a lot of other gifts to mark the occasion but the big surprise is the holiday to Necker. Richard Branson owns the paradise island and sorted the trip out, including all the travel arrangements. It will be something to remember.

I’m sure it will be! And with that much space, it will be easy to balance a romantic time with family fun if they decide to bring the boys along.

Regardless of what Victoria and David decide to do, I wish them the best! Happy Anniversary!

David & Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2009 Armani Ads

July 2, 2009 by Erin Balser

Giogrio Armani unveiled the new Emporio Armani Fall/Winter 2009 ads starring David and Victoria Beckham and boy are they hot! These ads just keep getting better and better.

Shot by renowned photographers Merta Alas and Marcus Piggott in Milan, these ads will be featured in magazines and billboards for the rest of the summer.

The couple also starred in the Spring/Summer 2009 campaign together, which you can see here. Which set of ads do you like better? I’m not the biggest fan of David and Victoria’s hair here, so the older ads win for me! I’m still excited to see the future ads David and Victoria do together, though. They’ve signed on as models for Emporio Armani until 2010.

New Book on David Beckham: The Beckham Experiment

July 1, 2009 by Erin Balser

The Beckham Experiment: How the World’s Most Famous Athlete Tried to Conquer America by Grant Wahl will hit stores in North America on July 14th. The controversial book looks at how and why David came to America to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy and the kind of impact it had on the MLS and North American soccer in general.

the Beckham experiment

Wahl goes behind the scenes of what he calls “the Beckham experiment” and shows the reader how the deal went down, what it was like to move to America, how the MLS and the Los Angeles Galaxy reacted to the soccer superstar on their turf and more.

I’m not sure how much of the book explores David’s recent stint with AC Milan and the rampant rumors he’s planning to leave the Galaxy permanently once his get-out clause in his contract becomes active in November.

Regardless, it should be an interesting and insightful look into David’s world the past two years.

Sports Illustrated has an excerpt from the book online, which you can read here. It’s very interesting and gives you an idea what to expect.

The Beckham Experiment can be pre-ordered through Amazon for $16.49.

David, Victoria & Boys Celebrate David’s Mom’s 60th Birthday

June 29, 2009 by Erin Balser

Yesterday was David Beckham’s mother, Sandra’s, 60th birthday! The whole family was on hand to celebrate this grand occasion. The family held a surprise dinner for the proud mum at a restaurant her her home in Essex.

They did their best to keep the event a secret from the paparazzi as much as from Sandra. The ploy worked because the paparazzi only got a few shots of the family as they left the restaurant, meaning they enjoyed their dinner in peace.

“They crept in through the back so they could surprise the birthday girl. There were gasps of delight when they walked in with a lot of hugs and kisses,” an eyewitness tells the Mirror. “After the meal David gave a speech about his mum. It was just like any other family birthday party. Their children were running around with all the other kids.”

Victoria looked gorgeous in a one-shouldered black dress and the boys (including David!) were adorable all dressed up. What a wonderful surprise for Sandra, as she probably wasn’t expecting to see her son and grandsons!

David Beckham Awarded Damages from the Daily Star

June 24, 2009 by Erin Balser

David Victoria BeckhamDavid Beckham won his libel charge against the Daily Star for their false story about him hitting on Hungarian model Mariann Fogarasy at a party after an AC Milan match.

According to the report, David asked the model for her number, then repeatedly invited her to a “private party.” Express Group Newspapers, which owns the Daily Star, is expected to pay out the damages in the next few weeks. The Daily Star also issued an apology to David earlier this month.

The BBC is reporting that the damages awarded are “substantial.” The total award was not revealed, but I’m sure David is more pleased about having his name cleared and receiving an apology than about the cash.

This great news comes just as the family is getting back from their vacation in the French Riveria. Pop Sugar has photos of David, Victoria and their boys at the airport, getting ready to head home. I’m glad they enjoyed such a private, stress-free vacation together. While I’m glad they got some time away, I’m looking forward to seeing the family out and about again!

Beckham Family Portraits to Celebrate 10th Year Anniversary

June 22, 2009 by Erin Balser

According to the oh-so-reliable News of the World, David and Victoria Beckham are planning to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary (July 4th!) by unveiling new family portraits. As far as tabloid reports go, this one is very sweet.

David Beckham Emporio Armani

“They’re going to pose for some romantic photos, and then have a big family photo with their three boys,” their source reports. “The Beckhams want to unveil the photos in front of everyone on their big night on July 4th.”

I think this is a sweet idea. It’s always fun to document a growing family and what better occasion to get official family photos done than on a milestone like your 10th anniversary? As mcuh as I would honor the Beckhams’ privacy, I hope we get to see at least one of the photos.

The weird part of the rumor is that the Beckhams have asked Canadian singer Bryan Adams to take the photos. I had no idea Bryan was even a photographer or that the Beckhams even knew him! Mel C collaborated with Bryan way back when the Spice Girls were still together on his single “When You’re Gone.” Other than that? No clue!

Happy Father’s Day, David Beckham!

June 21, 2009 by Erin Balser

Happy Father’s Day, David Beckham! David is a great dad to his three active boys, Romeo Beckham and Cruz. The whole family is together on vacation in the French Riviera so it’s nice David gets to spend this special day with his family. He’s been apart from them for several months now, the last time he saw his boys was on their Easter break in March.

In honor of Father’s Day, here’s a sweet fan video of David with his boys.

I hope the family has an enjoyable and relaxing day together!

London House Hunting Rumors for the Beckhams

June 19, 2009 by Erin Balser

David Victoria Beckham MilanWhen the Beckhams go on vacation, the tabloids have to get a little creative! The latest rumor is that Victoria and David are looking for a second home in London, one that’s more accessible than Beckhamingham Palace in Hertfordshire.

With Victoria’s atelier based n London and with David playing often for the England National team, it makes sense they could have a quick, little (for them!) place in the heart of London to go back and forth from. It would certainly be easier than staying in a hotel for an extended period of time.

The Sun is even reporting that to make this sale, the Beckhams are looking to sell their home in the South of France.

“They fell in love with the place when they first saw it but now Victoria thinks it’s a too far away from the action,” their source claims. “They’re there now and will come to a decision when their holiday comes to an end.”

While this is only a rumor at this point, it’s a move that makes sense for the couple. Good luck selling, though! I know the couple has had a hard time selling their house in Madrid and still own it.

Former Nanny Apologizes to Beckhams

June 16, 2009 by Erin Balser

David Victoria Beckham MilanDavid and Victoria Beckham received a formal apology from former nanny Abbie Gibson for the allegations she made after resigning in 2005. Gibson gave a revealing interview to British tabloid News of the World that violated her confidentiality agreement she made with the couple.

“Between May 2003 and March 2005, Ms. Gibson was employed as the nanny to David and Victoria Beckham’s children,” her lawyer Gerrard Tryell explained. “After she resigned from their employment, she gave an interview to the News of the World. In this interview she disclosed private and confidential information about the Beckhams and their family.”

Tyrrell, said that she “unconditionally apologized to David and Victoria Beckham and their family for breaching her duties of confidence” and had also withdrawn a claim for constructive dismissal, he said.

Gibson also withdrew the claim that David made threatening phone calls to her after the interview was published.

“Ms Gibson is happy to confirm that David Beckham did not at any stage make any such telephone calls to her,” Tyrrell said.

“She apologizes if anything she said to The People gave them a false impression that such calls had been made.”

I’m glad this is another legal battle behind the Beckhams. I just cannot imagine the extensive hiring process they must go through and the amount of trust they need to put in their employees so they can feel their lives and their children are safe and they can lead relatively private and normal lives as a family.
