New Book on David Beckham: The Beckham Experiment
July 1, 2009 by Erin Balser
The Beckham Experiment: How the World’s Most Famous Athlete Tried to Conquer America by Grant Wahl will hit stores in North America on July 14th. The controversial book looks at how and why David came to America to play for the Los Angeles Galaxy and the kind of impact it had on the MLS and North American soccer in general.
Wahl goes behind the scenes of what he calls “the Beckham experiment” and shows the reader how the deal went down, what it was like to move to America, how the MLS and the Los Angeles Galaxy reacted to the soccer superstar on their turf and more.
I’m not sure how much of the book explores David’s recent stint with AC Milan and the rampant rumors he’s planning to leave the Galaxy permanently once his get-out clause in his contract becomes active in November.
Regardless, it should be an interesting and insightful look into David’s world the past two years.
Sports Illustrated has an excerpt from the book online, which you can read here. It’s very interesting and gives you an idea what to expect.
The Beckham Experiment can be pre-ordered through Amazon for $16.49.

David Beckham Children’s Books Now Available
June 4, 2009 by Erin Balser
The David Beckham Football Academy has released the line of children’s books! The series follows a few plaers at the academy and the ups and downs of being an elite young soccer player.
The Guardian wrote a humorous article about the books, imagining how they would read if the Premiership was responsible for them. The actual books are about themes that run strongly in soccer - friendship, hard work, dedication, sacrifice, sharing and success.

The first three titles - Twin Trouble, Le Football and Save the Day are now available through Amazon.co.uk. Unfrounately, the series is not yet available in North America. I have my fingers crossed that it will be soon!

David & Victoria Beckham Launch Charity Candle
February 25, 2009 by Erin Balser
David and Victoria Beckham have released a special edition candle to support the David and Victoria Beckham Children’s Charity . The candle was designed with Royal Warrant holders, and David and Victoria were very involved with the entire development process. The twosome knows quite a bit about scents, they’ve been intimately involved with their fragrance lines for years.

The candle is a way to treat yourself to a luxurious treat at a fairly low price. Each candle is £20, with at least £2 from every candle bought will directly help children with mobility needs.
Currently, the candle is only available in the UK through Price’s. For a limited time, purchasing a candle will enter you in a draw to win a signed candle box!
David Beckham Spoofed in New “Ready 2 Rumble” Video Game
January 24, 2009 by Erin Balser
“Ready 2 Rumble Revolution” is coming to the Nintendo Wii in March, but this version will be unlike any other. The boxers featured this time will be caricatures of sixteen celebrities including John Travolta, Brad Pitt, David Hasselhoff, Sylvester Stallone, Shaun White, Simon Cowell, Justin Timberlake and David Beckham!
The game, which is being produced by Atari and AKI, chose the celebs with everyone in mind.
“We went with a decent mix of mostly modern, mainstream people that I think much of the younger generation will recognize and know, but then we also went to the other end and grabbed characters that we think some of the older people will recognize as well,” producer Todd Slepian told the press.
The team creating this game hoped the celebrity-inspired characters would add humor and mass appeal to the game.
I think it could be quite fun, but I’d need to play it before I can make any decisions about it. It also sounds a little bit like a rip-off the the MTV claymation show Celebrity Death Match.
Still, David could whip Justin Timberlake and Simon Cowell any day.
Ready 2 Rumble Revolution will hit stores in March.

December 14, 2008 by Erin Balser
David Beckham hasn’t even joined AC Milan for training, but they already have his AC Milan jersey available for sale! David will be wearing #32. This is a departure from his usual favorite numbers, #23 and #7, but those are already taken.

The jersey can be yours for the introductory price of $87.99, marked down from $100.00. It’s available in sizes from S-XXL and it can be shipped all over the US and Canada.
The photo says David’s number is #75. However, it carries a disclaimer that the number can and will change without notice. My guess is they they randomly selected a number to get sales of the jersey going and will ship the correct number once the orders are in!

Victoria Beckham Collection is Live!
December 1, 2008 by Erin Balser
The Victoria Beckham Collection, a line of 10 ultra-chic and very Posh dresses went live to the public today. Unfortunately, they aren’t available to order online, but will be available in stores on Wednesday, beginning with a launch at the Selfridges department store in London.
Here’s the commercial for the line. This video opens the website:
The ten dresses are all very Beckham-esque. You could easily see Posh herself in any one of these numbers. The site itself is a really annoying flash interface, but it’s worth it to see the clothes.
Victoria Beckham’s Dress Collection Goes on Sale on Monday
November 29, 2008 by Erin Balser
Victoria Beckham’s dress collection, the one she debuted at New York Fashion Week, will finally be available to the public on Monday.
Her website for the collection, called the Victoria Beckham Collection, will also go live at that time, and you will be able to buy the dresses online! I’m so excited!
You can see a video advertising the collection at Style.com. It’s a fun, tongue and cheek advertising scheme where the models and Victoria play hide-and-seek in her dresses. There’s also a humorous nod to Victoria’s Marc Jacobs’ ad campaign.
