England Defeats Kazakhstan 5-1

by Erin on October 14th, 2008

David Beckham only played for 10 minutes on Saturday as England defeated Kazakhstan by a score to 5-1. David was the sub for new England superstar Theo Walcott, and he came in at the 79th minute to replace him.

While I’m sure it’s disappointing to David to play for so little, it must be nice to know that the future of English soccer is in good hands.

“I’m pleased that I came on and got involved,” David said after the game. “It’s one of the things you have substitutes for – to come on and create goals and chances. Thankfully I managed to create a couple against Kazakhstan that helped the team. But it does not matter about individual performances too much.”

Here’s a video with some highlights from the game. It’s not in English, but it shows all of England’s goals!

Making an appearance in the game gave David his 106th cap. This ties Bobby Charlton’s record!
