LA Galaxy Coach Quits, Manager Fired
Things are looking rocky for the Los Angeles Galaxy as first-year coach Ruud Gullit has resigned for “personal reasons” and manager Alexi Lalas, the guy who signed David Beckham was fired this week.
Gullit found the transition to LA to be quite daunting on his family. “In truth, it has proved a lot more difficult than I anticipated for my family to settle in the area and the club has been very supportive and understanding of my decision,” Gullit said to the UK Telegraph. He will be replaced intermittently by assistant Cobi Jones.
This move inspired the higher-ups in the Galaxy to make big changes–including letting Lalas go. No specific reason for this was cited, but the Galaxy’s troubls last year–and their recent slump this season–has surely played a part.
However, things are already looking up for the Galaxy. They won the Superclassico this week (more on that later!)
