David Beckham Highest Paid in MLS
This news is not surprising–David Beckham is the highest paid player in the MLS, according to the Associated Press. He makes fifty times more than the average player in the league.
This season, David will bring in $6.5 million in guaranteed salary. This is only his salary as a football player and doesn’t include any options, endorsements, etc. The next highest salary in the league is $2.6 million, which goes to Cuauhtemoc Blanco of Chicago. The average player gets $129,395 for the season.
I know this seems like a lot, but when one considers how much media attention and ticket sales David has brought to the league, even without his playing well or often, it’s probably a more than fair price.
What do you think? Is David overpaid? Or worth way more?
