David Beckham 17th Most Powerful Person in Sports
The list includes CEOs, businesspeople, team owners, and television personalities. Yet, David Beckham was named 17th on a list of the “Most Powerful People in Sports,” compiled by Business Week.
Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Peyton Manning were the only athletes ahead of David. The criteria for the list included:
Among them: how individuals rate vs. their peers; how much money they control, generate, or influence; how long they have exercised power; and how lasting their impact on a sport or the larger world of sports will be.
A big reason that David wasn’t listed higher was due to his lack of American presence — something that is changing very quickly now that David plays for the LA Galaxy.
