David Beckham Hopes to Play Tomorrow

Things are looking up for those who have tickets to tomorrow’s Superliga tournament! semi finals. David Beckham is making every effort to ensure he is on the field.

KNBC writes:

David Beckham practiced with the Los Angeles Galaxy Tuesday for the first time since joining the team one month ago, and the English superstar said will play in the SuperLiga semifinals.

The 32-year-old midfielder appeared to move well laterally and got off a few long kicks toward the end of a scrimmage.

Beckham’s nagging left ankle injury is not completely healed, although he pronounced himself “about 78 percent” ready to go.

Wiping sweat from his face, he said he’s “not perfect yet” but thinks he can play at least one-half game Wednesday.

The Galaxy hosts D.C. United in the SuperLiga tournament semifinals Wednesday night. The teams met last week in a Major League Soccer game, with the Galaxy losing 1-0 in a game in which Beckham played the final 21 minutes.

The only suspense Wednesday will be whether Beckham starts or comes off the bench, as he did last week.

I doubt Becks will start — it’s not a league game. However, that’s not important. What’s important is that David gets and stays healthy!
